Small and Fast Bootloader for Arduino and other Atmel AVR chips - Optiboot/optiboot
It happens that after you played for a while with an Arduino Uno R3 board, uploading various sketches written with the help of the Arduino IDE, you want to move further and flash your Uno with HEX files generated by a different IDE. If you want to be able to upload a compiled Arduino sketch (HEX file) to your Arduino board without using the Arduino IDE there has been no easy way without knowing the ins and outs of AVRDude or other command line programmers.
